A Guide to Playing Wall Street Poker

Based on Wall Street, the financial district of New York City, Wall Street Poker is a variation of stud poker.

Wall Street Poker is very much like seven stud poker, but it does have a few unique differences.  It is known as a high low variation poker game.  This means that there is the possibility of having two winners.  The player with the highest hand and the player with the lowest hand.

How to Play Wall Street Poker

The dealer will deal two cards; one face up and the other face down.  Four other cards will also be dealt and these will be for sale.  These four cards are known as Wall Street and will be dealt face up.  The card that is dealt to the far left of the dealer will have a single chip on it.  A round of betting will follow depending on the cards that the players have.  The dealer will deal another card to each player.

Players have the choice of being dealt a free card from the deck or taking one of the Wall Street cards.  The Wall Street cards price is dependent on their position.  The first card sells for 1 chip, the 2nd for 2 chips, the 3rd card for 3 chips and the 4th card on the far right of the dealer sells for 4 chips.  These chips go into the pot and the card is replaced so there are always four Wall Street cards available for sale.

Another two rounds of dealing takes place where players can either buy a card or take a free one.  Betting will take place in both rounds.  The betting will begin with the player who has the highest value hand.  At this stage of Wall Street Poker each player should have two cards face down and four face up.

The last card is dealt and the final betting round follows.  This final card is dealt from the deck for each player.  The Wall Street cards will be returned to the deck and the chip would be returned, but not to the pot.  Players then have a showdown. A showdown is when there is more than one player left at the end of a hand and players reveal their cards.   Each player will then show their cards and the highest hand and the lowest hand will be determined.  If there are two winners the pot is divided amongst the two winners.  This is known as the scooping the pot.  A high value hand will be anything over eight and a low value hand will be anything under 8.

Tips for Playing Wall Street Poker

Players who are new to poker must decide on the onset if they are going to play for free or real money.  Playing poker takes concentration and a strategy so for first time players it is a good idea to play for free to start with and to become familiar with the rules, terminology and to plan a strategy.  Players can also try different variations of poker and see which one suits them best.  It is good to remember that even professional players lose, and players should try to play as well as they can during each game, but it also good to know when to fold and rather take a small loss.

Wall Street Poker is a high-powered poker game with aggressive betting and will provide players with hours of entertainment.
